» Scope of Training

During the internship, trainees gain extensive clinical exposure and technical expertise in:

  • History taking and visual acuity assessment
  • Objective & subjective refraction
  • Tonometry (GAT, iCare, NCT)
  • Slit-lamp biomicroscopy
  • Immersion A-Scan & IOL Master 700 biometry
  • Digital keratometry and corneal topography
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
  • Ophthalmic Ultrasound B-Scan
  • LASIK pre-operative evaluation and workup
  • Dry eye evaluation and management
  • Binocular vision and ocular motility assessment
  • Pentacam analysis
  • Contact lens fitting (refractive and therapeutic)
  • Fundus photography and perimetry
  • Tele-optometry practices
  • Direct ophthalmoscopy and low-vision workup
  • Basic orthoptic and vision therapy exercises
  • Internship Outcomes
  • Upon completion of the program, interns will be:
  • Qualified for primary eye care management
  • Confident in ocular diagnostics and interpretation
  • Skilled in refraction across all age groups
  • Proficient in patient communication and counseling
  • Capable of clinical decision-making and referrals
  • Competent in analyzing diagnostic reports and planning treatment

» Internship Program Details

  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Eligibility: Completion of 3rd Year B.Sc. Optometry (without backlog) from a UGC-recognized university or institute
    Selection Process: Based on academic merit and interpersonal skills. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online by Isha Netralaya’s Faculty Panel.
  • Accommodation & Food: Shared accommodation available (separate for boys and girls) within walking distance from the hospital.

The final-year internship provides:

  • Streak Retinoscope (Heine or Welch Allyn preferred)
  • Full-sleeve white apron (without logo)
  • Pen torch, ruler, and pocket diary
