About the Fellowship

The Fellowship in Clinical Optometry at Isha Netralaya, Thane is a structured 12-month program designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and advanced clinical practice.
With a strong focus on diagnostics, pediatric eye care, and binocular vision, the fellowship nurtures optometrists into confident clinicians skilled in decision-making, research, and patient management.

» Program Objectives

  • Build strong foundational knowledge in comprehensive eye care (2 months)
  • Deepen clinical expertise in diagnostics and pediatric vision (10 months)
  • Foster analytical and research-oriented thinking through guided projects

» Fellowship Structure and Rotations

1. Comprehensive Eye Care (2 Months)

  • Refraction and pediatric eye examination (retinoscopy, refinement)
  • General clinic exposure and slit-lamp mastery

Introduction to optometric and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging (hands-on)

2. Ocular Diagnostics (5 Months)

  • Acquisition and interpretation of diagnostic and imaging scans (anterior and posterior segment)
  • Co-management of ocular diseases with ophthalmologists

3. Pediatric & Binocular Vision (5 Months)

  • Amblyopia, strabismus, and vision therapy

Low-vision assessment in pediatric patients

4. Research Activities (Throughout)

  • Topic selection under faculty supervision (Month 1)
  • Conduct clinical or literature-based research

Present findings at symposiums, conferences, or in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Optometry (B.Optom or equivalent)
  • Valid optometry license
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Good communication skills
