Treatments for Glaucoma

By Medications:

A number of medications are currently in use to treat glaucoma. Glaucoma specialist at Isha Netralaya will prescribe a combination of medications or change your prescription over time to reduce side-effects or provide a more effective treatment.

Typically, medications are intended to reduce elevated intraocular pressure and prevent damage to the optic nerve.

The good news is that with a regular eye examination, early detection, and treatment, we can preserve patients sight. It is important to carefully follow medication regimen to continually preserve a healthy eye pressure and prevent vision loss.

By Surgery:

The type of surgery recommendation will depend on the type and severity of glaucoma and the general health of patient’s eye. Surgery can help lower pressure when medication is not sufficient, however, it cannot reverse vision loss.

By Laser:

There is a process in which laser is used to improve fluid drainage in the eye and reduce eye pressure, the process is called Trabeculoplasty.
