Before proceeding for Lasik Surgery the cornea is tested with Sirius a high precision instrument which does complete 3d analysis of the cornea enabling us to check the eligibility of the patient.
It is a two-step procedure which begins with a hinged flap creation using a mechanical microkeratome (a blade device) or a laser keratome (a bladeless laser device).
The flap is folded back revealing the stroma, the middle section of the cornea. Pulses from a computer-controlled laser vaporize a predetermined portion of the stroma and the flap is replaced.
Reshaping and reduction of the stroma alters the refractive power of the cornea and hence corrects the overall power of the eye.
